VERSION HISTORY
Ñ 2.0 (September 14, 1997)
Version 2.0 is a major upgrade which provides the following new features:
- built-in powerful compaction technology which typically reduces the file size by about 50%. It remains possible to create uncompacted files, which have the same format as those created with older versions of eDOC.
- implementation of language modules, which enables selection of language interface for self-reading documents (English, French, German, Italian and Japanese currently available - others may appear in a next version)
- improved handling of custom pictures which can be added in the ╥About╙ dialog displayed from self-reading documents. It is now possible to embed several custom pictures in eDOC Creator and to select the one to be used from a popup menu. The dialog is now automatically resized to fit the custom picture dimensions.
Other improvements include:
- new ╥screen╙ page sizes in eDOC Creator's Page Setup dialog
- support of temporary memory when using MacOS 7 or higher
- ability to save Index display status (open or not, width, hierarchy)
- availability of Find and Text/Picture Extraction functions in self-reading documents
- improved accuracy of the Find procedure
- support of fractional characters widths
eDOC Creator 2.0 requires MacOS 7 or higher. eDOC Reader 2.0 and self-reading documents created from eDOC Creator 2.0 still require only System 6.05/6.07 or higher. Both eDOC Creator and eDOC Reader are compatible with MacOS 8.
Upgrading to version 2.0 is free for registered users of eDOC.
The official price for version 2.0 is unchanged (124.28 French Francs + sales tax when applicable). However, because of the current exchange rate, American users should be pleased to notice that the price they will have to pay is now close to US$20 (instead of US$25 as previously stated).

ADDITIONAL NOTES
This software has been tested as much as possible and most known problems have been fixed. However, we are aware of some difficulties which may arise if you try preparing eDOCs from some applications using eDOC Creator.
Ñ eDOCs obtained from applications which use EPSF or various bitmap formats are often bitmap pictures, from which you won't be able to find or extract text.
Ñ Graphics may not be included in eDOCs obtained from QuarkXPress. If this happens, you can try first using an other printer driver such as LaserWriter, do the appropriate settings in the print dialogs, launch printing and cancel it and then move back to eDOC Creator
